As per the latest edition of the 2019 report published by Ericsson mobility the 5G connections are to cover more than 65% of the world population by the year 2025. It will handle more than 45% of global data traffic. The report goes on to further say that the total number of people with IoT connections will reach 5 billion as against 1.3 billion. The forecast along with its detailed reports is published in the November 2019 edition of the report.
By the end of 2025, the monthly data consumption per smartphone will reach 24GB compared to 7.2 GB in 2019. This is because the number of people using data for various entertainment purposes like virtual reality streaming is increasing every year. With the current rate of 7.2 GB per month the users can watch 21 minutes of live streaming HD video. When it will reach 24 GB per month the users can live stream up to 30 minutes of HD video online with an additional six minutes of VR streaming per day.
In the year 2019, the 5G has been introduced by the leading service providers in Asia including Australia, China, and the middle-east countries. It has also expanded in many parts of Europe. Since the launch of 5G in April this year the biggest craze for the new generation of telecom services has been shown by South Korea. More than 3 million subscriptions have been recorded by the country’s service providers in a period of just 6 months till September 2019.
In China where the 5G came in late October the number of 5G subscriptions has gone up as well and is expected to reach 13 million by the end of 2019.
The Executive Vice-President of Ericsson Fredrik Jedling was very optimistic while speaking on behalf of Ericsson who also launched the November 2019 edition of the report published by Ericsson.
